Rykantai Church in Trakai District

Right next to the old Vilnius-Vievis road, in the village of Rykantai, there stands a towerless Trinity Church of Gothic structure, Renaissance forms, and a rectangular plan. The church has a hall, a triple-wall apse and the sacristy. According to the written sources, it is known that the wooden Evangelical Reformed Church was built before 1555. Three decades later, Rykantai governor Mikalojus Talvošas built a brick church. The Church suffered several times during the wars. Rykantai village with church was handed over to Trakai Dominicans in 1688 but they did not want to hold mass at the Evangelical Reformed Church. Therefore, a wooden church was built next to it in 1725. However, at the end of the 18th century, the mass started to be held in the stone church. In 1921, a parish was established. In 1935, the reconstruction of the church began. The church has frescoes from 1668. The mass is held only in the Polish language.
