Mound Totoriškis

The Mound Totoriškis with a settlement is situated to the west of Totoriškis village for about 800 meters. One of several such mounds in Gelvonai eldership is situated in the territory of Širvintos district municipality. It is accessed from the road Gelvonai - Pabaiskas in front of Lake Žirnajai by turning right to Bagaslaviškis town. The mound dates back to the early 1^st-2^nd millennium. The mound is located on the highlands of the cape, on the right bank of the River Gelvė, at its entrance to Lake Žirnajai. Totoriškės mound was explored by the writer, museum owner, archaeologist Petras Tarasenka, as well as other archaeologists. The greatest findings were found in the ancient village of Totoriškis, located north-east of the mound. The Mound Totoriškis with a settlement is included in the Register of Cultural Property and is a state protected object.
