Rėva Mound

Rėva Mound, dating back to the 1st - 2nd millennium, is located in Buivydžiai eldership, Vilnius district, next to Šventininkai village which can be reached by Nemenčinė - Punžonys road. It is also known as Santaka Mound or Ponarska Gura.
The mound has steep slopes that reach even 57 m. On the left bank of the river Neris, the mound which is overgrown with conifers is difficult to find as the surrounding landscape is also full of steep hills. The mound site, which is extending north-south, is oval, and approximately 100 m long and 10 m to 25 m wide. The pitch and the mound are surrounded by intertwining ditches and embankments. Large single stones can be found on the embankments. Although the mound was first described in 1936, no archaeological research was conducted in the post-war period. Since 2005, the mound has been a state protected site.
