Raudondvaris Manor Castle

The architectural ensemble which consists of the early 17th century renaissance manor castle, two officinas, a housekeeper and butler’s house, orangery, northern and southern barns, stables, icehouse and park. It was always a representative palace, the construction of which is covered by legends, for example, that the building of the castle was initiated by Barbora Radvilaitė. Count Tiškevičiai family bought a manor in 1819. Under their rule, the manor became a luxurious counts’ residence with huge collections of paintings, rare books, works of art and exotic plants and animals. In 1944, the German army burned the orangery and the palace when withdrawing out of Lithuania. In 1959, the reconstruction of the palace started.  Since 1994, there was an exposition of the history of Raudondvaris and Count Tiškevičius in the manor house, as well as an exposition for the memory of the composer J. Naujalis. In 2018, the civil registry department of Kaunas District Municipality Administration moved to the complex.
