Panevėžiukas Crucified Jesus Church

In 1743, Simonas Sirutis, the owner of Panevėžiukas manor, funded the construction of a new church. It was built by folk masters. The brick church is of late Baroque style. It is one of the two unique rare triangle plan churches, but the only one made of masonry. Another church of such a plan, but wooden one is in Degučiai. For just over 250 years, the church has changed little and retained its original form, interior and exterior. There are three altars in the church. The great altar has a cross with the sculpture of the Crucified. The bell of the church cast in 1639 is a protected cultural property. The church cellars were used to bury its patrons, founders and other noblemen. Burials were destroyed during World War II. Remembrance boards on the church walls and a fence remind of the burials.
