Margininkai St. Virgin Mary Chapel Church

A wooden three-naval church stands in Margininkai, 16 km southeast of Kaunas. The Church has a form of folk architecture, a triple-wall apse and a turret. The wooden chapel of Margininkai village was first mentioned in 1872. In 1923, the chapel received parish rights. After a year, it was repaired and converted into a church. There is a sacristy on the southern side which in 1962 was extended to the main facade. The top of this facade is completed by the trapezoidal gable and the original roof top. There is a turret with a bell-shaped roof over it and the cross minted with the 19th century ornaments. Both the church and its great altar are plain, modest and features the Baroque style. The sanctuary is unique in Lithuania since it is not fenced.
