Mound Mančiušėnai

The Mound Mančiušėnai is located in the territory of Širvintos district municipality, on the right side of Širvintos shore valley, in the village Mančiušėnai. It can be reached by going on the road Gelvonai-Mančiušėnai, at the beginning of the village Mančiušėnai, behind the ruins of the former warehouses, and turning to the left about for 100 m. The mound dates back to the 1st millennium. The mound site is quadrangular, oblong to the direct of east-west, and 25×15 m in size. The slopes are quite steep of 16 m high. The mound is surrounded by gravel holes, plows, and electric lines passing through it. The archaeological excavations on the mound did not have a high abundance of finding, unlike about 500 meters from the mound to the southwest, in the ancient village of Mančiušėnai where the pottery was found abundantly. It is believed that the settlement is of the 1st millennium BC to the early 1st millennium AD.
