Mound Laužiškis

The Mound Laužiškis with a settlement is located in the territory of Širvintos district municipality, Zibalai eldership, Laužiškis village. It can be accessed when driving from the road Širvintos - Giedraičiai after crossing Širvinta, turning left to the hill and driving 300 meters by a minor road.

Laužiškis mound is also known as the vicious table. It is located on the highlands on the left bank of Širvinta. The appearance of the mound shows that there was a strong castle in the 1^st half of the 2^nd millennium, but there is no historical data on it. Scientists guess that it was this mound where the main castle Šešuoliai of the municipality was standing. In the late 14^th century, it covered Vilnius from the north and was a part of its 2^nd outer ring of wooden castles near Kernavė and Dubingiai.
