Ensemble of Čiobiškis Church

The ensemble of Čiobiškis church. The ensemble includes a church, two chapels, two belfries, and a sanctuary with a gate. The first church in Čiobiškis, built by the brothers Jesuits, burnt down at the end of the 18th century. Current classical style brick Church of St. John the Baptist was built in 1810 to 1816. Its founders Pilsudskiai wanted to build a brick church similar to Vilnius Cathedral. He ordered a classical-style church and a palace at architect Laurynas Stuoka-Gucevičius. The church was perfectly restored on the occasion of the architect’s anniversary. The walls of the church are divided by pilasters. The church is classicist, of a rectangular plan, and with no towers. The interior has 3 naves, sailing vaults, and mosaic bands. There is a portrait of the founder John Chrysostom Pilsudski in the church (1810). The sanctuary is surrounded by the stone masonry fence with small chapels. There is a classicist stone bell tower.
