Butvilonys Mound

The Butvilonys Mound is located near the confluence of Trydupis and Didžravis, in the territory of Juodžiai village, Vilkija eldership, Kaunas district. The mound is located on the cape of the right bank of Trydupis (currently here is a pond). A mound is surrounded by river valleys from three sides (northwest, southwest, and southeast). There are adjacent highlands on the northeast of the mound. About 14 m high slopes are steep. At the top of the mound, there is a 30 m long and 26 m wide site. At its northern end, there is a 4.5 m high and 6.5 m high embankment which surrounds a site by a semicircle. The mound is separated from the highlands in the north east by a 30 m long, 15 m wide and 2 m deep embankment. The mound dates back to the early 2nd millennium. The area of the monument is 18,000 m².
